Daylight Saving Time is Back!

Daylight Saving Time is Back! Here's a photo of a clock in a field of yellow flowers.YAY! Daylight Saving Time is finally back! Don’t forget to “Spring Forward” by setting your clocks ahead one hour before you go to sleep this Saturday night. We are thrilled to welcome the immediate addition of daylight hours to our evenings.

I have been looking forward to this for months! I hate getting home after dark and feeding my livestock in the pitch black. Now, we can all enjoy checking on our animals, working in the garden, or just sitting on the porch while the sun is still up.

While many people credit Benjamin Franklin with the idea, he actually just wrote a satirical essay suggesting Parisians could save money on candles by waking up earlier. The modern concept really took hold during World War I, when Germany implemented it to conserve coal for the war effort. The United States soon followed suit in 1918 to support our own wartime industries. Today, we use it to make better use of natural daylight during the longer days of summer.

So, get ready to enjoy those extra hours of sunshine. It makes evening chores so much easier and gives us more time to do what we love outside. Don’t forget to change those clocks and enjoy the longer days ahead! Also, come see us at Arcola Feed! We can enjoy the sun together!
