Happy Halloween!  We are open today until 5 pm, if you would like to bring your trick or treaters by, we do have candy available at the front counter for them, and also there’s some for mom and dad!

The name Halloween comes from the original name of All Hallows Eve. It was a day spent remembering the dead and all of those that have departed. There are many theories for who started the tradition. For example, the most common is that it was influenced by Celtic Harvest festivals dating back to mid-1700’s.

Now-a-days, one of the most important parts about it, aside from the costumes and trick-or-treating is candy. It has been estimated that over 90 million pounds of chocolate is bought the week of Halloween. That makes up about 10% of candy sales for the whole year. Some polls have discussed that the top 3, highest selling candy, are Reese’s Cups, Skittles and M&M’s.

It is crazy to think how much really goes into the holiday, especially if you plan on having a themed party or host trick-or-treaters.
