August 23rd – Big Padre’s Birthday Bash in South Padre Island
Big Padre, the rescued alligator residing at the South Padre Island Birding, Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary, is celebrating his 58th birthday on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, from 9am to 2pm. The sanctuary will host a birthday bash with educational activities, games, a special feeding for Big Padre, and refreshments. Visitors can also enjoy a piñata and sing “Happy Birthday” to Big Padre.
August 23rd – Fishing for Hope Tournament in South Padre Island
The 19th Annual Fishing for Hope Tournament, hosted by DHR Health, will be held on August 23, 2025, at Jim’s Pier in South Padre Island. This fundraising event benefits the Hope Family Health Center. Which, provides healthcare to uninsured patients. The tournament is one of the largest non-profit fishing tournaments on the Texas coast. It features a day of fishing, a dinner, and a raffle.
August 29th – 31st – Moody Gardens Wine Festival in Galveston
The Moody Gardens Wine Festival in Galveston offers a weekend of wine tastings, culinary experiences, live music, and other unique activities. Key events include the White Linen Seafood Extravaganza, Penguins & Pinot Grand Tasting at the Aquarium. Plus, a special performance by Suzy Bogguss. The festival also features bourbon tastings, a classic car auction, and yoga sessions.
August 29th – 31st – Suwabes Labor Day Festival in South Padre Island
